A food drive with no shopping, no lines, no lifting!

Irving Cares procures food items from the North Texas Food Bank by paying a shared maintenance fee of 28 cents per pound. You can participate in a virtual food drive that creates a credit on our food bank account, helping us feed more families cost-effectively.

Use these steps to feed hungry families: 1. Register your food drive: click here; 2. Include IRVING CARES in the name of your food drive; 3. After the event send a letter with the results to the North Texas Food Bank and to Irving Cares. ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program Internship Available

Now interviewing college students for a paid summer internship in our Employment Services Program. Responsibilities include assessing employment and educational needs, referring to appropriate organizations for training/resources, conducting a Job Search Seminar, marketing the program in the community. This internship is made possible through a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation, which provides full-time college students an eight-week paid internship for experience in nonprofit community organizations. Eligible students must be undergraduates returning as a full-time sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2012. Families and individuals who earn $50,000 or less per year are eligible for help from trained, IRS-certified tax preparers. The sites is open now through April, Monday through Saturday. Holiday Haven of Hope for 48 Families

At Irving Cares, we’ve just finished paying a portion of December rent or utilities for 48 families. They attended a money management class to learn how to budget and save, so that next year they can provide for their own holiday. This thank you card is from one of those families. We’ve raised nearly $6,000 of the $18,000 we need to cover these expenses. Please consider a gift to the Holiday Assistance Program here.

Homeless Pets Help Homeless People Donation Drive

Join us Saturday, October 22, at the donation drive finale – Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane – food, live music and blessing of the animals from 11 am to 3 pm (rain or shine). Bring your donation of items to help the homeless: non-perishable food, blankets, jackets, backpacks, sleeping bags.
