~The beauty of the season begins
with kindness from the heart~
The Holiday Assistance
Program
assists qualifying families by paying a substantial portion of their rent
or mortgage. Instead of providing
toys and gifts, this program provides “…assistance and
training to promote self-sufficiency,” while empowering families to
budget for their own holiday giving.
With your donation these Irving
families will celebrate the holidays just as other families, surprising
their children with gifts from their wish lists.
In
December 2007, 35 families,
including 107 children, received an average of $377 in financial
assistance including a generous grocery gift card. Our goal this year is to help 60
families. Won’t you help us
help them this holiday season?
Participating
families come to Irving Cares by referral from the Irving Independent
School District
school counselors who have a longer-term relationship with the families,
and know who might best benefit from this opportunity. Through our program, you help not only by providing
“fish,” but also in teaching the family “how to
fish.” Families will
meet income limit guidelines, and must attend a Money Management class to
learn how to better manage their family income.
Please
begin your holiday season by helping an Irving family in need. Your generosity provides families with
a hand toward self-sufficiency and creates a happier holiday season for
many children.
Respectfully,

Teddie
